Navigate Trends Like a Pro

Growth Brews - Issue #022

Thinking about the next tool I will explore

Let me tell you about Alex. She’s been absolutely crushing it at work—nailing campaigns, driving results, basically being a marketing rockstar.

But lately, something feels off.

Everywhere she turns, there’s another shiny new tool screaming for attention. AI this, AI that—honestly, it’s like the world’s gone AI-crazy

Not to mention the endless parade of new platforms and trendy techniques everyone seems to be obsessed with.

Alex feels like she’s at a never-ending buffet, and every time she finally decides on a dish, a dozen new options pop up. And, of course, they all look delicious.

She’s starting to wonder if she’s missing out on the secret sauce that’s going to make her campaigns even better.

But here’s the kicker: Alex is getting overwhelmed.

Every morning, it’s the same drill—she logs in, gets bombarded with the latest blog posts and webinars on some hot new growth hack, and is left wondering:

Should she dive into learning this new tool, or stick to what she already knows works?

Now, Alex might be a fictional character, but if we’re being real, this is the story of many growth marketers out there (including me).

The fear of missing out (or as we like to call it, FOMO) is real, and it can make you feel like you’re forever playing catch-up

But here’s the tea (or coffee in our case):

While it’s important to stay in the loop, it’s even more crucial to have a game plan that helps you navigate these constant changes without getting swept away by the noise.

So, grab your favorite mug of freshly brewed coffee, because I'm about to spill the beans on:

  1. Whether you should actually stress about keeping up with trends and tech.

  2. The spooky truth of what you should really be worrying about.

  3. Strategies to stay ahead without feeling like you’re drowning in information overload.

  4. Tools and resources that’ll make your life a heck of a lot easier.

Alright, let’s tackle the big question first:

Should you really be worrying about keeping up with all these trends and tech, or is it just another way to stress us out?

Picture this: you’re a chef in a top-notch kitchen. Every day, there’s a new fancy gadget or exotic ingredient that everyone’s raving about.

Sure, it’s tempting to try out all these new things, but if you’re constantly experimenting, you might end up neglecting your signature dish—the one that keeps customers coming back for more.

And let’s be honest, nobody wants to be the chef who forgets how to make their own best dish.

In the world of growth marketing, it’s the same deal.

The industry is like that high-paced kitchen, with new tools, platforms, and AI-powered wonders popping up faster than you can say “ROI.”

It’s exciting, but also a bit much, especially when you’ve already got a full plate (pun intended).

Not Everything Is Worth Your Time

So, here’s Alex, right in the middle of this whirlwind. She’s killing it, but all these new tools? They’re starting to mess with her groove.

Should she jump on the bandwagon and use every new tool that comes her way, or just keep doing what she does best?

Here’s the truth, served up hot: while it’s smart to keep an eye on what’s new, it’s even smarter to know which trends and tools are worth your time.

Spoiler alert: not all of them are.

Think of it like this—just like a chef needs to master the basics before they start playing with molecular gastronomy, you need to have your core marketing principles down cold before diving headfirst into every shiny new trend.

When you’ve got that solid foundation, you can spot the tools that’ll actually make a difference instead of just adding more clutter to your toolkit.

Staying updated is crucial—no doubt about it. But instead of trying to keep up with everything (and risking burnout), focus on integrating the trends and tools that really add value.

This way, you’re not just following the crowd—you’re leading it, with the confidence that comes from knowing you’re using the best tools to do what you do best.

In the end, it’s not about jumping on every new trend; it’s about knowing when to hop on board and when to wave as it passes by.

Keep your eyes on the prize, and don’t let the fear of missing out turn into a full-blown anxiety fest.
